Scientist classify the living world by putting organisms into groups based mostly by judging degrees of apparent similarity and difference that they can see.
The highest category in the classification is the kingdom. All living organisms are classified into five kingdoms based on:
- Cellular organization : single- or multiple-celled
- Methods of nutrition : whether they absorb, ingest, or produce food
